Lateral ankle pain

Lateral ankle is pain on the outside of the ankle. Lateral ankle pain can occur from acute or chronic injuries. Some causes of the lateral ankle and foot pain include:

  • Peroneal tendinopathy

  • Stress fracture of the talus

Medial ankle pain

Medial pain is pain on the inside of the ankle. Medial ankle pain causes include:

  • Medial malleolar stress fracture
  • Referred pain from the spine

Anterior ankle pain

Anterior ankle pain is a pain at the front of the ankle. Causes for this pain include:

  • Anterior impingement syndrome
  • Tibialis anterior tendinits
  • Ankle sprains

Ankle injuries

  • Osteochondral lesions of the talus
  • Broken ankle
  • Dislocated ankle
  • Stress fracture of the fibula
  • Cuboid syndrome
