The link between physical and mental health<\/h1>\n

Each year, World Mental Health Day is held on 10 October to raise awareness of mental health challenges faced by people all around the world. <\/p>\n

Mental health challenges are common and with 1 in 5 adults experiencing a mental health episode in any one-year period, it is a national health priority in Australia. <\/p>\n

Mental health challenges are nothing to be ashamed of and we all play a role in combating the stigma that is associated with them, not just on World Mental Health Day, but every day.<\/p>\n

What we know <\/b><\/p>\n

When considering mental health and physical health, the two should not be thought of separately. There are various connections between mental health and chronic physical health.<\/p>\n

For some people, poor physical health can impact their mental health. Similarly, poor mental health can have impacts on a persons\u2019 physical health. Both of which can have significant affects on a person\u2019 overall quality of life and wellbeing. <\/p>\n
