{"id":2843,"date":"2016-09-05T01:56:02","date_gmt":"2016-09-05T01:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.s3c.com.au\/?page_id=2843"},"modified":"2021-06-30T03:12:30","modified_gmt":"2021-06-30T03:12:30","slug":"neck-whiplash","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.s3c.com.au\/education-centre\/conditions\/neck\/neck-whiplash\/","title":{"rendered":"Neck whiplash"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"sample-title\">Neck whiplash<\/h1>\n<p>Whiplash is what we call an acceleration-deceleration injury and usually occurs with motor vehicle accidents but can also occur from being pushed in the back, during sports accidents or a fall. <\/p>\n<p><b>Grades of whiplash<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) can be classified by the severity of signs and symptoms:<\/p>\n<p>Grade 0: no complaints or physical signs.<br \/>\nGrade 1: indicates neck complaints but no physical signs.<br \/>\nGrade 2: indicates neck complaints and musculoskeletal signs.<br \/>\nGrade 3: neck complaints and neurological signs.<br \/>\nGrade 4: neck complaints and fracture\/dislocation:<br \/>\n*Most cervical spine fractures occur predominantly at two levels &#8211; at the level of C2 or at C6 or C7.<br \/>\n*Most fatal cervical spine injuries occur in upper cervical levels, either at the cranio-cervical junction C1, or at C2.<\/p>\n<p><b>Treatment<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The grade of whiplash will change the treatment approach.
