Our chiropractors use safe, gentle and effective treatments to get you back to your pain-free state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>What causes back and neck pain?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Back and neck pain can be caused by a variety of injuries, conditions and illnesses. In most cases neck and back pain comes from our musculoskeletal system that includes: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Muscles<\/li>\n<li>Tendons<\/li>\n<li>Ligaments<\/li>\n<li>Joints<\/li>\n<li>Cartilage<\/li>\n<li>Bones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Injuries that commonly cause neck and back pain include <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Muscle strains <\/li>\n<li>Joint sprains<\/li>\n<li>Disc injuries<\/li>\n<li>Pinched nerves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>What treatments help with back and neck pain?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A combination of active and passive treatments have been shown to improve neck and back pain.<\/p>\n<p>Passive treatments include: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Joint manipulation <\/li>\n<li>Joint mobilisation<\/li>\n<li>Massage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Active treatments include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>McKenzie exercises<\/li>\n<li>Rehabilitation exercises<\/li>\n<li>General exercises (walking, gym exercises, pilates, yoga etc).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Neck and back pain is usually treated by a chiropractor with a combination of passive and active treatments. Passive treatments are only relied on in the short term to settle pain down. Long term treatment is centred around active treatments. Our chiropractors will give you self management exercises. These are exercises you do by yourself on the longer term to both fix your pain and reduce the risk of it coming back. <\/p>\n<p><em>How long does it take to fix neck and back pain?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It is very hard to say how long neck and back pain will take to treat. Minor aches and injuries will typically resolve quickly (days to weeks). More complex injuries may take much longer (months).
