Thoracic spondylosis
Thoracic spondylosis refers to degeneration (arthritis) in the thoracic spine (middle back). Previous injury, history of inflammatory disorders, smoking and sporting activities may all increase the risk of thoracic spondylosis along with other related spinal disorders.
Symptoms
We will all experience wear-and-tear in the spine as we age. There isn’t a way to avoid this. In most cases, this wear-and-tear will not be noticed/severe.
Symptoms of thoracic spondylosis may include pain and stiffness in the mid-back, particularly in the morning. If spondylosis is advanced and the spinal nerves become affected there may be associated numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness.
Treatment
The treatment for thoracic spondylosis depends on many factors such as its location and severity. Chiropractic treatments are useful in the management of thoracic spondylosis. Ask your chiropractor or medical doctor for more information.
