Chronic mid back pain
Chronic mid back pain is defined as pain arising from the thoracic spine and surrounding anatomical structures, such as ligaments, tendons, muscles and bursae, which has persisted for more than 3 months. Sometimes chronic mid back pain is referred to as non-specific, or mechanical, thoracic pain.
Symptoms
Chronic mid back pain typically presents as pain between the shoulder blades or a little lower in the mid-back. The symptoms and behaviour of the pain are determined by the cause.
Treatments
The treatment of chronic mid back pain will be determined by its cause. Joints, muscles, intervertebral discs and other spinal inflammatory and degenerative conditions can cause chronic mid back pain. Chiropractic treatments can be are useful.
