back pain

Our approach to back pain

Around 80% of people will experience back and neck pain at some point in their lives. Most back and neck pain will not last long and will go away naturally. However, occasionally back and neck pain will require some chiropractic or physiotherapy to help alleviate and remove the cause of the pain.

When you visit one of our chiropractors or physiotherapists in Balmain or Rozelle Sydney, we will evaluate your medical history, look at the structure and function of your back and your social situation (work/life). If you have back or neck pain a chiropractor or physiotherapist perfectly positioned to work out the exact nature of your neck or back pain and what the best course of action will be. Chiropractors and physiotherapists get all this information through a detailed history, physical examination, special orthopaedic tests, radiographic examination and special imaging studies, such as MRI and CT scan.

A lot of people worry about back surgery when they have back pain. However, surgery for back and neck pain is rare. Surgery for back and neck pain may be recommended if non-operative measures, such as chiropractic and physiotherapy, have failed to control pain and therefore limit ones lifestyle. Pain limiting ones lifestyle means different things for different people, for some it may mean playing 18 holes of golf and for another, it may just mean walking to the bathroom pain free.
